Digital Applications in Periodontics and Dental Implants

The American Academy of Periodontics (AAP) best evidence review supports the use of CBCT-derived implant surgical guides. However, one recent study of all postdoctoral periodontal programs showed that all specialty programs in the U.S. had CBCT equipment in their clinics. However, only 14% of students used a surgical guide fabricated with a CBCT scan for dental implant cases.^17-18
