Once implant mobility is present, the implant is considered to have a hopeless prognosis and removal is the de fault treatment plan. Often, it is the restoration or a component of the abutment that is mobile. Such a situation may lead to future bone loss, but does not significantly affect immediate implant prognosis. However, loose restorative components create space for pellicle adhesion and trigger the start of the inflammatory cascade leading to peri-implant disease.
