Dr. Mailhot is an adjunct professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry. Prior, Dr. Mailhot was Chair in the Department of Surgical Sciences at Marquette University, School of Dentistry. In addition, he was a professor in the Periodontal Department at the Medical College of Georgia with joint appointments in the Departments of Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology, School of Graduate Studies and in the School of Allied Health Sciences. Dr. Mailhot earned his undergraduate degrees from State University of New York at Farmingdale and Oneonta Colleges. He received his DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine and obtained his Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and MS degree from the Medical College of Georgia, Schools of Dentistry and Graduate Studies. Dr. Mailhot completed a Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Fellowship with Procter & Gamble in the Regulatory & Clinical Development, Oral Care Division in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Mailhot is involved in educating and training both pre-doctoral students and post-graduate residents. He has authored or co-authored over 50 publications. Dr. Mailhot is a Colonel in the US Army Reserve and a decorated combat Veteran who has served on active duty in Iraq. His outside interests include motorcycle riding, boating, gourmet cooking and travel. Dr. Mailhot is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
